Only 7 km from the town of Brixen, the gondola lift starts its journey into one of the most beautiful hiking areas in South Tyrol – Mount Plose. The panoramic and circular hiking itineraries offer a relaxation factor of 100, while you may indulge in culinary delights in 13 alpine huts and lodges.

Mount Plose is THE panoramic mountain with a view of the Dolomites. A breath-taking panorama already opens up at the mountain station of the PLOSE gondola lift. Sas de Putia with the Aferer and Villnösser Odle Peaks form a unique backdrop for all summit hikes and tours that take you along the south-eastern slopes.

Hikes to alpine huts
You don’t need to conquer high peaks – even a stop in an alpine lodge offers great joys. From rustic alpine huts to the traditional shelters and our mountain restaurants, all can be reached via easy and safe paths and are well distributed in the hiking area.

One of the most enjoyable ways to get to know the country and its people is to go hiking with the locals. This is exactly what our qualified hiking guides do – They take you on a tour that turns hiking into an experience.
Long-distance hiking trails
The Dolomites Altitude Trail No. 2 is one of the most beautiful and most popular routes across the Alps. It starts in Brixen and first climbs Mount Plose to end in Feltre after 14-15 days and 185 km. The Dolomites High Altitude Trail No. 8, also called the “Path of Panoramas”, is 160km long and ends in Salurn after 11-12 days. Brixen, the starting point of this long-distance hikes, can be easily reached by public and private transport via the Brennero / Verona connecting line.
Arrival by public transport
If you arrive by train, you can continue by bus to the valley station of the Plose gondola lift. Up-to-date bus timetable.
Private arrival – car park
If you come by car, there are free parking spaces on the park terraces at the valley station of the Plose gondola lift, where you can park your car for the duration of the long-distance hike. Parking at your own risk.
First overnight stay
The Dolomites Altitude Trail No. 2 usually starts at the lodge Plosehütte. If it is already fully booked, the lodge Rossalm or the Mountain Hotel Schlemmer are excellent alternatives. The innkeepers will be happy to advise you.
